Jonah’s Big Break

God said, “Go!”
Jonah said, “No!
I need a break.
I don’t wanna’ go.”

God said, “So ...
You don’t wanna’ go?
You want a break?
Well, you reap what you sow.

“So ... go on a cruise?
You’ve nothing to lose?
Sure, you deserve a break.
You’ve paid your dues.

“So ... turn off the news,
All those political views.
You deserve a break --
A luxury cruise.”

Jonah boarded the boat,
Didn’t bother to vote.
He deserved a break.
He’d email a note.

So ... God sent a breeze.
He handled it with ease
But Jonah got a break
That brought him to his knees.

The breeze never ceased!
Scared the crew, to say the least.
The wind didn’t break.
The storm just increased

Till they threw him overboard.
Into a whale he soared.
Yes, Jonah got a break!
In a stomach he was stored.

Three days of looking up
Until the whale threw up.
Whale had to take a break,
Find better-tasting sup.

Most people tan on beaches
But Joe was into bleaches.
So when you want a break
Think what this story teaches.
