Joy in the Mourning
The Holiday Room: Christmas

God Became A Baby

For unto us a child is born ...
Unto us a son is given ....

When God wrote about His Son, He told the whole story. But have you noticed that other writers of Christmas letters seem to have perfect lives and families? How often do writers mention the embarrassing things that have happened throughout the year?

We choose our words with wit and care,
we practice sermons to the air,
                    we send our writings everywhere.
But God became a baby.

We try our best to be profound!
We listen, and we like the sound
of our own voices, full and round.
But God became a baby.

The truth is simple, brave and bold.
The truth needs only to be told:
“Just as I am!” The story’s old.
          Our God became a baby.
